Ruscombe Hall is the largest single house at Cannington Grange, accomodating 10 people in the comfortable and spacious manner you would expect of such an impressive Victorian Country House. 
 
Built in 1865 as the main family residence for the Ruscombe-Poole family, it has remained in almost continuous family use for 150 years. 
 
It has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment that has seen a complex redecoration, new kitchen and either new or refurbished bathrooms. 
 
Visitor feedback for the first season has been excellent and we are taking advance bookings of up to 2 years ahead! 
 
 
 
Simply arriving at the 10ft arched doorway tells you to expect something special. 
 
Once inside, the massive hallway, with its sweeping stairway, impressive stone fireplace and french oak block flooring sets the scene. 
 
From the hallway, take the door into the main sitting room (), with floor to ceiling south and south-west facing windows its a very bright and comfortable room - the windows retain their original shutters so in the evening, with the huge open fire lit, it has a lovely warm and cosy feel. 
 
Seating is for 10 on comfortable sofa's and chairs. 
 
From the sitting room, a peculiar window-door takes you into the adjacent conservatory, which in turn has double doors leading to the patio and garden. 
 
The seperate dining-room has as its centrepiece a 10-seater oak dining table - perfect for formall or informal family meals. 
 
The impressive marble fireplace contains a super woodburner, this really warms the room when in use. 
 
Again, one of those peculiar window-doors leads out onto the patio where a large table and chairs offers an alfresco south-facing eating and socialising area. 
 
The kitchen, brand new for 2011, offers a great area for preparing meals for friends and relatives - the granite topped central bar doubles as a huge breakfast table - imagine having large bowls of cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurts and cold meats all laid out for your group to help themselves before sitting down to eat in the adjacent dining room.... 
 
On a practical note, there is a large Rangemaster double electric oven and hobs, an American style fridge/freezer plus dishwasher, with plenty of preparation space and microwave. Cutlery and crockery is more than adequate for a group of 10. 
 
 
The sweeping stairway takes you to a wide and spacious first floor landing, from where you can choose one of the five bedrooms. 
 
Landor Room: This is a huge room with a superkingsize bed, a whole wall of fitted wardrobes and drawers, and an ensuite bathroom with shower over the bath. Views over the fishing pond and crocquet lawn. 
 
Parlby Suite: Originally one large room, this has been cleverly divided into two bedrooms, they have lots of wardrobe and drawer space, and share a cleverly located bathroom, which offers a bath and seperate walk in shower. This suite is perfect for two adults and two children, and by using zip-link beds we can offer either a double and a twin room, or a kingsize double and a doube room. 
 
Gilleys Room: Traditional double room, with a kingsize bed, and its own ensuite, featuring a bath with shower attachment. 
 
Quantock Room: A twin bedroom, featuring lovely mahogany sleigh-beds. An ingenious use of space gives this room an ensuite shower and toilet. 
 
Ruscombe Hall and Toad Hall can, if required, share an internal access - this would give total accomodation for 18 people. (Very handy if you're bringing small children who need putting to bed so the adults can stay up late!)
